Episode 20 - I’ll Swallow Poison on Sunday (01/05/2011)

The women of Wisteria Lane are shocked to learn that Felicia Tilman was Beth Young’s mother. What’s even more unsettling is the fact that Susan has made Paul her pet project. Felicia shows interest in this curious turn of events. She pops by Susan’s place to add a little antifreeze to the chicken pot pie she’s making for Paul, not mention all the other dishes she prepares for him.

Mike says that they finally have enough money to move back into their house, but Susan is reluctant to give Paul the boot until he’s back on his feet. That’s not happening anytime soon, as Paul is feeling the effects of Felicia’s toxic additives. He’s also feeling lousy emotionally when Susan says they can afford to move back home. Paul thinks all her goodwill was part of some calculated master plan. He tosses her out of the house. Moments later, Paul clutches his heart and collapses to the floor. Not good.

Tom offers to give Lynette and Renee a little boost in their interior design business by letting them makeover his office. Renee says, “For 20-grand we will decorate your office and whack an employee of your choosing.” She’s such a savvy businesswoman. Tom wants his office to mirror the one belonging to Donald Trump. Lynette has other ideas. After all, she knows what her hubby likes, right?

Lynette goes to town decorating the office the way she sees fit. She does all this behind Renee’s back. Needless to say, her partner isn’t all too pleased. But, hey, as long as the client’s happy, right? And he is! Tom absolutely loves his new office. But that’s only because Renee snuck in to redecorate it the way he’d asked it be done in the first place. This leads to a big blowup fight where Tom lets Lynette know that he doesn’t believe she’s truly happy that he’s successful. Again, not good.

Bree is still adjusting to life with her three new roomies. And by that we mean she’s longing for the day Gaby and the girls head back home to Carlos. While on her way to church to pray for patience, Bree meets Detective Chuck Vance of the Fairview P.D. He’s checking up on Felicia, but gets treated to Bree’s wrath when he blocks her driveway with his car. Welcome to Wisteria Lane, Detective.

To help his daughter understand their current situation, Carlos tells Juanita all about the time Bree killed grandma. Actually, it was Andrew who killed Mama Solis, but that’s not how Juanita heard it. She and her sis now fear for their lives, so they do everything that’s asked of them. The girls call 911 when they think Bree is trying to kill them. DING DONG! Detective Vance is at the door.

The detective asks Carlos if he told his daughter that Bree killed his mother. This is a chance to get justice, but Carlos doesn’t take it. He claims it was all a misunderstanding. Bree walks Vance out to his car. She’s curious as to why a detective would answer a 911 call. Could it be because he wanted to see Bree? As for Gaby, Bree thinks it’s time she went home to her family. Of course, that means she can no longer see her friend. One more time. Not good.

Episode 19 - The Lies Ill-Concealed (24/04/2011)

Meet the man of Susan’s dreams: Paul Young. You heard us. One of our favorite housewives is having erotic fantasies about the man we all love to hate. What a nightmare! The sex dreams could be a result of the six weeks of post-transplant abstinence for Susan and Mike, which is thankfully coming to an end.

As for Paul, Mike wants his wife to steer clear of the guy. That’ll be hard to do since Paul is now popping up in Susan’s shower. Yes, it’s another steamy dream. Susan wonders, “Is it common for patients to have sex dreams about the husbands of their dead donors?” Excellent question!

The doctor thinks the dreams are a result of Susan’s desire to help a despondent Paul. So she stops over to share some soup with him. When Mike catches sight of them together, he’s not a happy hubby. But that doesn’t stop him from setting up a romantic dinner for the kind, compassionate woman he loves. Thankfully, those six weeks without sex are history as of tonight.

Tom and Lynette are invited to a prominent leadership conference. There are lots of high-profile people there. The best part of this little getaway trip is the fact there aren’t any kids. Lynette is bummed to learn that she’s barred from the seminars because she’s only there as Tom’s guest. She can still do all the less-intellectual activities with Lee, who is at the conference as Bob’s “Plus-One.” Think Lynette’s going to go for that? Nah.

Lynette swipes the credentials of a condescending businesswoman to sneak into the keynote speech. Too bad the pass belongs to the woman who is introducing the main speaker. Imagine Tom’s surprise to see his wife stumble through an impromptu speech before scurrying away in shame. This is why so many people fear public speaking. Later, Renee tries to tell Lynette that she needs to get used to the fact that in Tom’s new world, she’s viewed as nothing more than a wife. Harsh.

After discovering the identity of her new neighbor, Karen McCluskey recalls the night she saw Felicia Tilman frame Paul Young for murder. The two ladies catch up over coffee. Karen is shocked to learn Beth’s true identity. Felicia seems to be gaining an ally for whatever plan she has in store for Paul.

Carlos forbids Gaby from seeing Bree. This is an extremely difficult situation, and not just because Bree has scones baking in the oven. Gaby loves those scones. These two gal pals miss each other so much that they’ve resorted to covert meetings for coffee. The element of danger that comes from sneaking around while downing pineapple upside-down cake is quite exciting.

The jig is up once Carlos catches sight of a leftover slice of the upside-down cake on his counter. Gaby claims she made the tasty dessert, so Carlos wants her to make another one while he watches. This leads to a Cyrano-like scene where Bree talks Gaby through the process via a cell phone earpiece. Gaby’s cake is a flop, but Bree manages to secretly swap it out for one she made. Let them eat cake!

Gaby got away with the cake deception, but Carlos uncovers his wife’s attempt to go on a secret spa trip with her forbidden friend. He wants Gaby to choose. It’s either him or Bree. A short time later, Gaby appears on Bree’s doorstep having made her choice. She asks Bree if she can stay with her for awhile. Of course, that means Juanita and Celia will be moving in, too. Looks like Bree’s gonna need pineapple upside-down cake for four.

Episode 18 - Moments in the Woods (10/04/2011)

Andrew is busy working through the steps of recovery for alcohol addiction. The toughest one will be telling Carlos about that little vehicular homicide involving Mama Solis. Andrew wants to come clean, but Bree won’t let him. She fears that if Carlos finds out, they may have another homicide on their hands. Crisis averted, right? Wrong.

Bree freaks when she learns Carlos and Andrew are off on a hunting trip. They are alone in the woods with guns. Bree and Gaby brave a rainstorm to reach the cabin. They find Carlos with blood on his hands and fresh dirt on a shovel. Bree and Gaby fear the worst as they blab that Andrew killed Mama Solis. This is news to Carlos. Needless to say, he’s plenty peeved as Andrew returns after a hike.

Carlos is further angered to learn that Bree helped her son cover things up. Gaby’s silence after the fact is also troubling. Eventually, Carlos allows Andrew to tell his side of the story and forgives him. Bree pops by with muffins to thank him for his compassion, but learns Carlos does NOT forgive her. Bree is to never interact with him or his wife ever again. Oh, and she can keep the muffins.

Susan pays a visit to old dialysis buddy Dick, who is in the hospital for a viral infection. Dick thinks Susan is on a lucky streak after getting her new kidney. He wants to take her to a casino by the airport when he gets out. Sadly, that day never comes. Dick passes away, but not before leaving Susan something to remember him by: a gambling chip.

Susan takes the hundred dollar chip to the casino. She quickly parlays it into big winnings in the poker room. Roy happens to be playing the slots nearby. He can’t understand why his neighbor is so sad after winning so big. Susan wonders why she’s so lucky while others are not. Roy believes perhaps that’s a question we shouldn’t really ask.

Tom’s new job scores him a whopping $100,000 signing bonus. He wants Lynette to go crazy with some of the loot, so she buys a new coffee machine. You go, girl! As you can imagine, Renee is appalled by Lynette’s lack of reckless spending savvy. She takes her down to a high-end boutique where Lynette learns the finer points of buying things without looking at the price. Like we said… You go, girl!

This new free-spending Lynette surprises Tom on the private jet that’s taking him to a big meeting. His flight has been delayed because she slipped the pilot a few bucks to get lost for a half hour. Lynette makes her way down the aisle in her sexy dress ready to serve her hubby a hot lobster dinner. Too bad Tom loves his new job so much that he doesn’t have time for anything but work. Looks like Lynette will be having lobster for one.

Beth Young had a will. This explains why Felicia is living in the Wisteria Lane home that Beth’s hubby had put in her name. Things are adversarial at first, but then Felicia offers Paul an olive branch. She wants him to accompany her to the woods so they can scatter Beth’s ashes in the lake that she loved. Paul’s skeptical, but agrees to take the trip. He also opts to take a gun.

Felicia learned a few tricks while in prison. That’s why she’s able to swipe the gun without Paul noticing. It would be easy enough for Felicia to pull the trigger. Instead, she tosses the gun into the lake. Felicia hopes this will prove that she’s looking put the past behind them. She allows Paul the honors of scattering Beth’s ashes into the lake. Only it isn’t really Beth. No, Felicia kept her daughter’s ashes safely at home as part of a ruse. Hey, Paul, you may want think about fishing that handgun out of that lake.

Episode 17 - Everything's Different, Nothing's Changed (03/04/2011)

Susan gets a phone call. They have a kidney for her. Woo hoo! Paul gets a phone call. His wife is on life support. Boo hoo. Talk about mixed emotions!

Beth Young shot herself in head. Her last wish was to donate a kidney to her dear friend Susan Delfino. Okay, Beth and Susan weren't really friends. That's probably why a grieving Paul tells his former neighbor that there's no way she's going to strip his wife for spare parts. Mike wants to fight this thing. The law is on their side. But that doesn't matter to Susan. She barely acknowledged Beth in life, so why should she deserve anything from her in death?

Paul swings by the prison where Felicia tells him they need to stop hurling hatred at each other. She wants Beth taken off life support so she can rest. Later, Paul lets Susan know that he's alerted the transplant office to move forward with Beth's wishes. When he breaks down in tears, Susan gives him a hug. We suspect things will only get worse for Paul once he learns Felicia Tilman is being released from prison.

Renee and Gaby have been planning a big party. Everyone is invited, but no one feels like going because of the Beth Young situation. That's not going to stop Renee from pressing forward with her fabulous spring fling. She'll just order less shrimp.

The night of the big party arrives and Renee's place is packed with a bunch of strangers. Gaby realizes the reason Renee wouldn't cancel the party is because her mother also committed suicide. This party is her way of dealing with it. Remember how we said there were a bunch of strangers at the big bash? Well, that's no longer the case once Gaby adds her name to the guest list.

Bree is shocked when an inebriated Andrew passes out at Mrs. McCluskey's house. This isn't the first time he's gone on a bender. Andrew insists he doesn't have a problem, but his mom tricks him into attending an AA meeting. Andrew tells the folks that his name is Elvis. Though he doesn't address his drinking, he does speak of his meddling mother. Bree feels defeated when Andrew skips out during the serenity prayer. Yes, Elvis has left the building.

Andrew reiterates that he does not have a drinking problem. Bree has no choice but to believe him. Strike that. She doesn't believe him at all. She's also not about to walk away from someone who needs help, especially when it's her son. Andrew tells Bree that Alex left him. He still doesn't want to blab his problems to a bunch of strangers. That's fine. Bree says they can have a meeting right there, just the two of them. That'll work.

Tom gets a great new job offer, but declines the deal out of loyalty to Carlos. This has Lynette scheming for ways to get her hubby to reconsider. She performs a little bedroom seduction that's typically reserved for corporate hotshots. As sexy as this scene is, Tom won't be swayed. He will, however, ask Carlos to match the offer, which he doesn't. Time for Plan B!

Lynette swings by the local car dealership to borrow a $70,000 sports car. She parks that puppy in Carlos' driveway so that her hubby can see that his boss certainly can afford to pay him better. The plan works. Tom accepts the new job, but wants to renege once he learns what his wife did. A test drive in the sports car has Tom reconsidering his position. Think the new job comes with a parking space?

Episode 16 - Searching (06/03/2011)

Susan wants to celebrate her anniversary with a picnic in the woods. The big day is still a few months away, but she wants to head out into the wilderness right now. Why? Well, things aren’t looking good for her kidney-wise. The doctor advises that Susan take care of any unfinished business sooner rather than later.

Susan and Mike try to make the most of their faux anniversary bash even though everything seems to be going wrong. A little lovemaking under the sun is interrupted by some gunfire from the South. And by that we mean a Civil War reenactment group happens to swing by.

With any chance of romance gone with the wind, Mike and Susan opt to head home. Too bad their car won’t start. Mike is beyond frustrated. But it’s not because of all that went wrong. He’s just not ready to say goodbye. Susan isn’t either, but she still wants to enjoy every moment of every day.

Gaby and Lee have different philosophies when it comes to parenting. There’s only one way to determine who’s right. A talent show! Gaby and Lee won’t be performing though. No, there’s a school event where Lee’s newly-adopted daughter, Jenny, will be playing the violin. Juanita will be making noises with her armpit. May the best kid win!

As talented as her daughter is in armpit acoustics, Gaby wants her to do some tap dancing instead. Juanita is no Bojangles, so Gaby hides her shoes prior to the performance. Later, Jenny stumbles during her violin solo. You may think Lee would be bummed, but he couldn’t be prouder. Gaby suddenly feels like a heel for not letting Juanita do her thing. She snags back the shoes so her daughter can do her best interpretive tap dance. Juanita draws applause from the crowd, with the loudest cheers coming from her mom.

Lynette introduces Renee to the joys of parenthood by letting her babysit Paige. Renee’s up for the challenge. Lynette realizes she’s also up for a little multitasking when she catches her on a date with baby Paige by her side. Well, she was by her side until Renee pays a waitress a hundred bucks to take care of the child. Lynette gives the waitress two hundred bucks to act like she lost Paige. Needless to say, dinner ends abruptly and Renee realizes she’s not cut out to be a mom.

Bree looks for ways to take her mind off all she’s lost by helping others. She goes up and down Wisteria Lane trying to find someone who is willing to donate a kidney to Susan. Seeing as how most neighbors usually just crave a cup of sugar, you can imagine the less-than-favorable response Bree gets to this particular request.

Undaunted, Bree throws a big brunch in which a transplant coordinator dispels the myths of kidney donations. There’s also a nurse on hand to test all her guests. The hard work pays off. There are two matches. Bree is shocked to learn that she’s one option. The other possible donor is Beth Young.

When Beth tries to work her way back into her hubby’s good graces, Paul pretty much admits that he killed her mother’s sister. With nowhere to go, Beth visits Felicia in jail. Their meeting doesn’t end well. Later, Bree tells a despondent Beth that the two of them are a match. Both women want to be the donor, but Bree says she needs to be the one. Judging by the look on Beth’s face, that doesn’t seem acceptable.

Beth enters the hospital ER to deliver the forms needed for kidney donation. The duty nurse tries to tell her that she’s in the wrong department, but Beth continues to detail her wishes. Eventually, the nurse promises to deliver the forms to the proper place. Beth is satisfied. She believes that this is the most important thing she’s ever done. Then she removes a gun from her purse, points it at her head and…BANG!

Episode 15 - Farewell Letter (20/02/2011)

Lynette and Tom decide it’s time for Preston and Porter to move out. They end up finding a place right away and it’s even nearby. In fact, their new pad is right across the street. The Scavo boys are moving in with Mrs. McCluskey. Tom says, “This is not leaving the nest. This is more like nest-adjacent.”

Lynette is horrified to learn that her boys have roped Mrs. McCluskey into doing all the things she used to do for them. Their new landlord doesn’t seem to mind one bit, so Lynette suggests that her boys have a big party to show everyone their new digs. Sounds like a plan!

The day after what was obviously a blowout bash, Mrs. McCluskey returns Preston and Porter to their mother, who apologizes for coddling them for so long. That’s over now. It’s time for them to go out and live their own lives. To help get them started, Lynette will teach them how to make her famous Denver omelet. Pass the eggs, boys. Pass the eggs.

When Susan gets pulled over for blowing a stop sign, the cop lets her off with a warning once he learns she’s heading to her dialysis appointment. Susan later plays the bad kidney card at the supermarket so that the other shoppers will let her cut in line. Her dialysis story even gets her out of jury duty.

Renee says, “Susan, using your disease to manipulate and deceive people? I’ve never felt closer to you.” The two of them decide to use this new evil power to score lunch reservations at a snazzy restaurant. But another customer calls them out and they are both sent to the back of the line. Moments later, Susan collapses to the floor. She no longer needs a table at the restaurant. Now she needs an ambulance.

As part of her therapy, Gaby takes a trip back to her hometown to read a letter to her dead stepfather at his grave. She hasn’t been home in some time, so Gaby is a little surprised to see that she’s considered a celebrity in this small town. Pictures from her modeling days are all over the wall of the local diner. There’s even a nacho platter named after her! The principal at her old school wants her to speak to his students. Suddenly this trip back home doesn’t seem so bad.

Gaby runs into a nun named Sister Marta. It’s obvious these two have met before. Gaby mentions a discussion they had 20 years ago. As it turns out, Sister Marta is the one person Gaby confided in regarding the abuse she was suffering at the hands of her stepfather. But the nun didn’t believe her. Gaby was a child and she turned to her teacher for help. She lets Sister Marta know that she should be ashamed of herself for not believing her. This confrontation was exactly what Gaby needed to put her past behind her. She and Carlos can now go home.

Keith is still mad a Bree for keeping the news of his son from him for a week. To make matters worse, Amber and Charlie are heading back to Florida. That’s not going to work for him. He wants to move to the Sunshine State and he hopes Bree will agree to go with him. The only other option would be if he went without her. Of course, that would mean the end of their relationship. Bree realizes that’s the way it has to be. They both love each other, but there’s a little boy in Florida who needs his dad. She knows that Keith needs his son, too.

Mike and Paul drive an angry Zach to rehab. The kid has two choices. He can either dry out in hospital or take his chances in jail for shooting his father. Zach chooses rehab where he tells Paul that he’s hated him all of his life. He thinks Paul is the reason his mom killed herself. His venomous words really sting. When Paul returns home, he confronts Beth about being Felicia’s daughter. He boots her out of the house. Beth is left standing alone in the middle of Wisteria Lane holding nothing but her suitcase and her gun.

Episode 14 - Flashback (13/02/2011)

Now that Paul knows that Zach is the person who shot him, he wants to track him down. Mike claims he has no idea where the kid is. It’s lie. A flashback shows us that Mike paid a visit to Zach awhile ago. The boy was scattered and rambling at the time. The fortune he inherited from his grandfather was pretty much all gone. Zach feigns indifference about the money, but he can’t hide his anger when Mike mentions Paul is out of jail.

"You used to be cute. What happened?"

Mike pays a present day visit to Zach to find the boy more strung out than before. He admits to shooting Paul. It’s obvious that Zach is hooked on drugs. There’s no way he’s going to rehab though. Mike has no choice but join forces with Paul. Together maybe they can find a way to help their son.

Susan runs into Monroe, an old high school classmate who has tried to friend her on Facebook 12 different times. Guess she never got his request. Their current live chat is cut short when Susan bursts into tears. She’s just been told it could take years before she gets a new kidney. She tells Monroe she’ll see him at the reunion. Maybe.

The rules for kidney donation change if someone is willing to donate directly. Old high school chum Monroe offers to do just that. Think Susan will accept him as a Facebook friend now? Of course, by the look on Monroe’s face as she hugs him, we’re thinking he’s always wanted to be more than just friends.

Susan realizes Monroe has been obsessed with her since high school. There’s a photo album filled with pictures. Monroe also kept one of her old English papers that he fished out of the garbage, not to mention her old retainer. Susan must finally break it to Monroe that even though he’s giving her a kidney, he’ll never be more than just a friend to him. That’s not going to be enough, so Susan’s name will remain on the transplant waiting list for now.

Stella’s caustic new hubby, Frank, wants a family portrait. When Lynette tries to weasel out of it, Frank tries to bribe her with $500 of gas money. That’s not going to work. However, Stella and Frank are more than welcome to come over to the Scavo place for a family photo op. CLICK! The picture is snapped, but it’s not a good shot. Frank’s eyes were closed. That’s because he’s dead.

It’s a sad time for Stella. Sure her new hubby is dead, but the real tragedy is that Frank’s new will doesn’t go into effect until tomorrow. If they call the coroner now, she gets nothing. If they wait until morning, she gets millions. Lynette says, “I didn’t want Frank in my house when he was alive. Now you want me to hang out with his corpse?” Better hope they have plenty of air freshener on hand.

Gaby is in therapy and has extreme difficulty talking about her childhood. The session does not go well, though that’s not what she tells Carlos. Gaby says she needs to step up her treatment to three sessions a week. Carlos is livid when he discovers this triple play of appointments isn’t with the psychiatrist. They’re at the beauty parlor. So, Carlos serves as his wife’s personal escort to her next therapy session. Gaby’s scared to talk about how her stepfather molested her. That’s why Carlos is seated right by her side when she finally lets it all out.

"First rule of therapy is no wine, but I'm gonna change that."

Bree has a late night meeting with Amber. The check she gave her will take five days to clear. Bills are due now, so a cashier’s check is needed. The new money exchange takes place at a pizza place, where Amber asks Bree to watch her son, Charlie, while she runs to the bank.

Keith spots Bree’s car in the parking lot and pops inside. He meets Charlie. Bree says she’s watching him for a friend, but what she’s actually doing is seeing the immediate bond Keith forms with the boy. Back home, Bree finally comes clean and tells Keith that Charlie is his son.

Episode 13 - I'm Still Here (16/01/2011)

Lynette’s mom, Stella (guest star Polly Bergen), comes to town with news that she’s getting married. Her fiancé Frank (guest star Larry Hagman) is a total tool. The guy’s rude, crude and obnoxious. He’s also loaded, which is the only reason Stella is marrying the jerk. Judging by the actor who plays Frank, we’re thinking the guy may have made his money in the oil industry.

Tom convinces Lynette to suck it up and support her mom on her wedding day. But as she’s pushing the wheelchair-bound bride-to-be down the aisle, Lynette rolls her mom right out the door. Stella tells her daughter that she’s not really marrying Frank for his money. She’s with the guy because he needs her and that makes her feel good inside. With that, Lynette wheels her mom back into the church. Who knows? Frank has a bad ticker. Maybe he’ll keel over during the honeymoon.

Susan tries to become dialysis buddies with a man named Dick, whose bad attitude fits nicely with his name. He’s a mean old man who rejects Susan’s multiple attempts to be friendly. See, Dick’s been doing the dialysis thing for years. He has no room in his life for optimism.

Susan realizes Dick actually does have hope when there’s chance he’s being contacted for a new kidney. But alas, the call is for someone else. Susan can see the guy is crushed. She grabs a seat next to him and takes hold of his hand. Dick takes her hand, too. After all, you can never have too many dialysis buddies.

Bree meets a pretty woman named Amber James. She’s Keith’s ex-girlfriend. They haven’t seen each other in seven years and Keith has no idea she even stopped by. Bree, however, pays a follow-up visit to Amber and meets her six-year-old boy, Charlie, who also happens to be Keith’s son.

Amber never told Keith about Charlie. Bree offers to break the news for her. But she can’t do it after hearing Keith admit that he gave up the concept of kids when he chose to be with her. Bree never tells her boyfriend about Charlie, but leads Amber to believe that she did. She hands the woman a check, leaving her with the idea that Keith didn’t want to meet his own son. Oh boy. Not good.

Bob and Lee hire Renee to design their adopted daughter’s bedroom. She’s not very maternal, but she’s 20 percent cheaper than their first choice. Surprise, surprise! Renee does an amazing job. She used her past desire to have kids as inspiration. Renee becomes supremely uncomfortable when Lee suggests that it’s never too late to adopt. They obviously hit a nerve. All is well, however, once Renee meets the new kid on the block and agrees to help Bob and Lee should she ever need advice about lady stuff. Just don’t call her Aunty Renee.

When Gaby notices that Mrs. McCluskey has a doll, she suggests they have a tea party with Princess Valerie. The word Mrs. McCluskey is looking for is… huh? Carlos realizes the doll is Gaby’s way of coping with the loss of Grace. Things go from bad to worse when they become victims of a carjacking. Carlos has to pull Gaby away from the gunman after she refuses to leave the car without her doll. The carjacker speeds away as Carlos tries to comfort his devastated wife.

Beth catches Paul sitting in a corner, crying in the middle of the night. He has so much hatred for all those who have wronged him. Beth has no idea that her hubby now thinks she’s one of those people. Otherwise, we doubt she would have accepted his invitation to a remote cabin in the woods. Seriously, does anything good ever happen in remote cabins?

The police detectives investigating the shooting approach Paul moments before he and Beth are to leave on their trip. They ask if he recognizes the gun that was found at Bree’s place. It’s obvious he does. He says, “Detectives, I know for a fact this is not Beth’s gun.” Paul then cancels the trip to the cabin, as he now believes the bullet that pierced his body may have come courtesy of his long lost son, Zach.

Episode 12 - Where Do I Belong? (09/01/2011)

Susan needs a kidney and Julie is back in town ready to give up one of hers. After all, a blood relative is the best chance for a match. Susan puts the kibosh on Julie’s plan. There has to be another way. Actually, there is. Susan’s mom, Sophie (guest star Lesley Ann Warren), has come to see her ailing daughter along with Susan’s eccentric Aunt Claire (guest star Valerie Harper). Sophie dismisses the notion of giving up one of her kidneys because she’s going on a cruise. Seriously?! Hey, in Sophie’s defense, the tickets are non-refundable.

"Why should she have to suffer for the sins of her husband?"

Susan can’t believe her own mother won’t even get tested to see if she’s a viable match. Aunt Claire says the reason Sophie can’t help is because she has cancer. Chemo treatments start in a week. The cruise story was just a cover. This leads to a touching heart-to-heart chat between mother and daughter where it becomes abundantly clear just how much each one loves the other. Guess that’s the one good thing about a health scare. Susan says, “It makes you think about what the important things are.” True.

As we predicted, Lynette is exacting revenge on Tom in slow, subtle, methodical ways. 20 years ago he slept with her best friend, so it’s payback time for two decades of secrecy. Lynette effortlessly doles out many little pranks like adding salt to Tom’s coffee and taking a seam-ripper to his pants. But stunts like removing the screws from his recliner and planting porn in his PowerPoint presentation take a bit more planning.

Renee eventually tells Tom that his wife is hip to their ancient affair. That’s how the guy knows he shouldn’t taste-test Lynette’s latest batch of laxative-laced brownies. Tom knows his wife is ticked. He’s beyond sorry and hopes that something so meaningless that happened so long ago won’t destroy the wonderful life they’ve built together. A fairly innocuous conversation between their kids has Lynette realizing they do have a pretty good thing. So, we’re thinking her next batch of brownies will be filled nothing more than double fudge.

"You guys are like the mean, pretty girls who won't let anyone sit at your lunch table."

News that Lee and Bob are adopting a little girl has Gaby longing for Grace. She finds solace in the doll she bought. She calls her Princess Valerie. Gaby goes ballistic when she catches Juanita and Celia playing with her doll. She brings it back to the store for repairs. The slightly-kooky saleslady says every doll has a story. We get an uneasy feeling when Gaby tells Princess Valerie’s tale. It sounds a lot like what happened with Grace. No one around here is a psychiatrist, but that slightly-detached look on Gaby’s smiling face can’t be a good thing.

Reverend Sykes convinces Bree to reach out to Beth Young. Gotta love religious guilt. Bree invites Beth over for a little soiree with her friends. Sure they all loathe Beth’s hubby, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get together to enjoy some cheese puffs, does it? Renee is the only one who doesn’t balk at the idea. She says, “You guys are like the mean, pretty girls who won’t let anyone sit at your lunch table.”

DING DONG. Someone’s at the door. It’s not Beth yet. A deliveryman has some beautiful flowers for Bree. There’s no card. They must be from Keith, right? Bree fields a few subtle digs from her friends about the Beth situation as she digs for tip money. She gives the delivery dude a few bucks just as Beth makes her way up to the front door. Time to get this awkward party started!

Bree convinces the ladies to give Beth a chance. Things seem to be going well until the guest of honor leans back on the sofa. Something behind a throw pillow is jabbing Beth in the back. It’s a 38-caliber gun. Hey, that’s the same kind that was used to shoot Paul! Beth smells a set up.

"It would be a shame, a shame, if some meaningless encounter 20 years ago ruined this wonderful life that we have built together."

The rest of the housewives suspect that Beth is the one who planted the weapon. Could she possibly be as twisted as her hubby? Nah. Then who put the gun behind the pillow? The only other person who had access to the room was the flower delivery guy with the mustache and goatee. Make that FAKE mustache and goatee. When the disguise is removed, we see a familiar face. Zach Young is back. Think he returned with a bang?
