The Amazing Race 18 (also known as The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business) is the eighteenth installment of the reality television show The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 18 will feature eleven teams of two — each returning from a previous edition — in a race around the world for a $1 million prize. The show is hosted by Phil Keoghan. It will also be the first American season of The Amazing Race to be filmed and broadcast in high-definition.
The Amazing Race is a reality television game show in which teams of two people, who have some form of a preexisting personal relationship, race around the world in competition with other teams. Contestants strive to arrive first at "pit stops" at the end of each leg of the race to win prizes and to avoid coming in last, which carries the possibility of elimination or a significant disadvantage in the following leg (segment). Contestants travel to and within multiple countries in a variety of transportation modes, including planes, balloons, helicopters, trucks, bicycles, taxicabs, rental cars, trains, buses, boats, and by foot. The clues (cryptic hints) provided in each leg lead the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. These challenges are related in some manner to the country wherein they are located or its culture. Teams are progressively eliminated until three are left; at that point, the team that arrives first in the final leg is awarded a grand prize
Created by Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, the original series has aired in the United States since 2001 and has earned eight Primetime Emmy Awards, including the first seven awards, from 2003 to 2009, for "Outstanding Reality-Competition Program" (Top Chef broke Race's streak in 2010). Emmy-award-winning New Zealand television personality, Phil Keoghan, has been the host of the show since its inception. The show has branched out to include a number of international versions following a similar format.

From Season 16 : Jet and Cord McCoy, brothers and rodeo cowboys, 2nd place; on the plane from Shanghai to San Francisco, eventual winners Dan & Jordan were able to move up to first class for free, giving them a lead that Jet & Cord were never able to overcome.
GARY & MALLORY
From Season 17 : Gary and Mallory Ervin, father and daughter, 6th place; Gary & Mallory got lost for several hours during the Detour in Oman.
LAKISHA & JENNIFER
From Season 14 : LaKisha and Jennifer Hoffman, sisters and sports coaches, 4th place; Jen used the restroom on the way to the Pit Stop after drinking four bottles of water during a Roadblock in Beijing where she had to eat insects.
ZEV & JUSTIN
From Season 15 : Zev Glassenberg and Justin Kanew, best friends, 9th place; after checking in first in Phnom Penh, Zev & Justin realized they had lost Zev's passport and they were unable to find it before all other remaining teams checked in.
FLIGHT TIME & BIG EASY
From Season 15 : Herb "Flight Time" Lang and Nate "Big Easy" Lofton, teammates on the Harlem Globetrotters, 4th place; Big Easy could not complete the Kafka-themed Roadblock in Prague and took a 4-hour forfeiture penalty.
RON & CHRISTINA
[7th team eliminated]
From Season 12 : Ronald and Christina Hsu, father and daughter, 2nd place; Christina could not figure out the correct combination of items at the final Roadblock in Anchorage.
MARGIE & LUKE
[8th team eliminated]
From Season 14 : Margie and Luke Adams, mother and son, 3rd place; Luke could not figure out the proper combination of items at the final Roadblock in Maui.
JAIME & CARA
[9th team eliminated]
From Season 14 : Jaime Edmondson and Cara Rosenthal, former cheerleaders for the NFL's Miami Dolphins, 2nd place; Jaime & Cara's cab driver in Maui got lost on the way to the Finish Line.
MEL & MIKE
[10th team eliminated]
From Season 14 : Mel and Mike White, father and son writers, 6th place; Mel & Mike's cab driver took them to the wrong place in Phuket, losing valuable time for them.
AMANDA & KRIS
[11th team eliminated]
From Season 14 : Amanda Blackledge and Kris Klicka, engaged (dating in Season 14), 8th place; Amanda & Kris were U-Turned by Margie & Luke in Siberia.
