A rocket scientist is killed in a satellite test chamber on the eve of his company launching the satellite into space. NCIS:LA is called in to figure out if highly secretive satellite technology has been comprised. Hetty determines Eric is the ideal candidate to pose as an FCC inspector to examine the satellite test chamber. When Eric begins to inspect the chamber where the scientist was killed, the chamber locks almost killing Eric until Nell remotely disables the system. The team tries to halt the satellite launch but are too late and the rocket and satellite explode moments after the launch. It turns out, the scientist's greedy partner and a disgruntled worker murdered him when they believed he was about to discover their plans to switch the real satellite with a dummy satellite in order to sell the highly classified communication technology, for profit, to the Turkish buyers that commisioned the satellite launch.

Kensi goes undercover as a highly trained cat burglar in order to stop a sophisticated thief from stealing antiquities from a Naval base. Our team finds that the thief, King, is after more than an antique vase and in reality he is trying to steal stealth technology hidden in the vase by a recently deported Chinese diplomat so he can then sell it to the Chinese. King is infamous for killing off his team as soon as they complete a job so when a blast goes off at King's home with Kensi and his crew inside, the team fears the worst. After assessing the crime scene and counting the bodies, they know Kensi is alive but still fear for her safety since they now have no communication with her. They stake out the one place they know King and Kensi will be - the Naval base. Kensi utilizes her wits and training to get King into the storage unit where the technology is hidden and the team rushes in and stops the robbery taking King into custody. Hetty lets the team know that the stealth technology was never really in danger since she had the vases switched and the fabricated stealth technology will be in Chinese hands shortly but they will never be the wiser.

The disappearance of a Naval Intelligence Officer claiming a pro-American Venezuelan politician is a major threat to the U.S, brings in NCIS:LA when they realize he may be targeting the politician for assassination. Our team finds evidence in a nearby motel that the officer, Dennis Chambers, has all the security details for the Venezuelan politician, Gutierrez's arrival in Los Angeles for his one day fundraising event. Chambers superior noted that Chambers, using a top secret speech deconstruction program called HiPs, was a true believer that Gutierrez was masking his hatred for America and would be a major threat to our security if he was elected. Kensi and Deeks go to Chambers ex-wife's home to inform her of his disappearance and are almost run down by a pick-up truck that matches the description of a truck that picked up the day laborer who last met with Chambers and then was found murdered. The evidence is pointing at Chambers being an assassin until they find he was kidnapped by members of Gutierrez's own security team who intended to make Chambers the patsy, framing him for the assassination. Callen and the team go undercover at the fundraising event to catch the would-be-assassins before they strike. The use Chambers as bait in order to smoke them out and our team takes down the security staff behind the assassination plan without Gutierrez ever realizing his life was in danger.

Sam's alias "Hakeem Fayed" receives an email from Abdul Habaza (Episode #214) with a time and place to meet. Hetty is hesitant to send Sam on this mission since she feels his personal vendetta against Abdul may get in the way. Eric informs them that the Overwatch Sam sprayed on Abdul only has a few days left and they are still waiting for him to meet his brother Saadat. Hetty reluctantly agrees. Sam enters the motel room of the location on the email and finds a man shot dead. He also discovers a fake passport and plane ticket for him to Yemen. The passport photo was from his time at Oakville and the team is unsure if Sam's identity has been compromised. Sam and Callen head to Yemen while Kensi and Deeks stay behind to figure out if Sam's identity was compromised. Upon Sam's arrival, Abdul immediately meets him and takes him to an undisclosed location in the desert where he has him guard the seven year old son of a Saudi Prince who they kidnapped a week ago. Callen follows Abdul and Sam to the location with Nate's help; Nate is Hetty's asset in Yemen. Kensi and Deeks track Abdul's location before he left for Yemen and are surprised to discover the illusive Saadat is posing as a Colombian night manager at the hotel Abdul stayed at before he fled. Kensi and Deeks give chase and a fire fight ensues killing Saadat. Hetty tries to immediately abort Sam's mission but it is too late and Abdul confronts Sam and takes him hostage, looking to leverage him for the freedom of imprisoned Al-Qaida members. Callen rushes in to help Sam and Hetty gets Director Vance on the phone for authorization to assassinate Abdul. Callen gets Sam free and Abdul is about to get away when they get the OK from Vance. Sam hesitates for a moment but takes the shot and realizes justice was served for Moe.

Deeks is shot in what appears to be a targeted hit and the team rushes to find the hit men before they finish the job. Kensi keeps watch over Deeks at the hospital while Callen and Sam track down leads in the shooting. Eric, using Kaleidoscope, locates the hit men and they are in the parking lot of the hospital where Deeks is recovering. Sam and Callen rush to the hospital where a shootout ensues and the driver is killed but the other man gets away. The team finds the two men are gang members for hire. Once they find the other man they realize this is bigger than just a couple of thugs getting revenge on Deeks. Using the burned phone they found on the driver Eric manages to discover the phone number of the man that hired the hit. Callen goes undercover to entrap the mystery man that hired the gunmen but Deeks and Kensi soon realize Deeks was just the bait and one of the other team members is the real target.

Sam and Callen have spent time undercover as CHP officers looking into a gang of corrupt officers known as the Golden State Taxi Service, who give safe passage to smugglers and criminals across a stretch of major U.S highway with suspected ties to Marines at Camp Pendleton. They are getting closer to the truth when they find the gang leader shot and barely alive but soon dies. The leader, Pat, was a former CHP officer and started the gang who assisted smugglers and criminals with safe passage on a major stretch of U.S highway. His number #2, Jennifer, was still a CHP officer and did not show up for her shift so Sam and Callen go to her home and walk-in on the aftermath of a shootout with evidence of someone being hit. It is unclear if Jennifer is involved in Pat's murder but they know they must find her. Eric helps them track her and they take her in. She tells them Pat was approached about a job with a big pay-off but when he said no they killed him. Callen has a plan and tells Jennifer to put the word out that the gang is back in on the plan and she is putting her two best guys - Sam and Callen. They meet with a businessman that says all he needs them to do is stop the SUV of a business rival and arrest him and a big pay-off with come to them. The team doesn't see what this has to do with Marines but follows the plan and find themselves in an ambush. The SUV was filled witht eh businessman's crew and the real plan was to steal a nuclear warhead that was making its way to be refurbished. The team races against the clock to find the warhead when they discover a young physicist to is kidnapped by the group to activate the warhead. The group uploads a video to the White House that threatens to blowup a U.S city and vows to release the video over the internet in 2 hours. The team discovers the businessman and physicist are working together and only stole the warhead as a scare tactic to create mass hysteria which would trigger a Wall Street sell-off, reaping them enormous profit.

Callen is back and discovers an intruder, Niko, in his home who he takes down and finds out he works for Arkady, a former KGB operative Callen has worked with before. Arkady informs Callen that a billionaire philanthropist named Singh is about to receive a shipment of counterfeit computer chips that may end up in U.S. military planes and ships which would be disastrous. Callen realizes Arkady is up to something and when Arkady hands Callen a photo of himself taken by the mystery man at the cemetery he knows in order for Arkady to tell him who took this photo and get him closer to knowing more about his past he must follow Arkady's info and stop this shipment. The team works to get closer to Singh and find out he is superstitious and believes in psychics. Kensi goes undercover as a fortune teller and gains Singh's trust. Meanwhile, Nell is secretly helping Callen track down who took the picture and when Hetty finds out she almost shuts down the operation until Callen convinces her that he would never compromise his team for his personal benefit. Our team discovers that Niko is working both sides and plans to pit Singh and Arkady against one another and steal the shipment for himself. Kensi, Deeks and Sam stop Singh's shipment and find it was not about computer chips but bags of money. Niko goes after Arkady and Callen gets caught in the crossfire when his team steps in and saves them both. Callen finds the man that took the photo but he is dead so the mystery of his past continues.

Sam's former contact and "brother", Moe, is attacked in prison. Sam and the team rush to his aid to help figure out why someone would want this model prisoner dead. They discover that Moe was beaten as an initiation into a well known and highly secretive terror group that has members in the prison. Entities within NCIS told Moe that if he got close to the leader of the group they would get him out of prison. Sam comes back to the team with this info and Hetty surprises them all when they find out Nate is already placed in the prison watching over Moe. Sam also goes undercover to get close to the prison's group leader and find out what the group is planning and to protect Moe. As they dig further they realize the group was working with a prison guard to create an escape plan to get the terror group leader's brother, Abdul Habaza, and his lieutenants out of prison and back to Yemen to lead the terror group in planning a massive terror attack on the U.S. Sam and Moe know they must help Abdul escape in order for them to track him, using Overwatch, and gain intelligence on this previously impenetrable organization. Unfortunately the assistant warden is dirty and is about to expose Sam, Nate or Moe as agents to Abdul so they must put the escape plan into action immediately. Moe assists the team in the escape but pays the ultimate price when Abdul tortures and kills him for information on the undercover agents. Moe covers for Sam and Nate to the end and Sam is determined to avenge Moe's death one day soon.
Callen gets a clue to his past and Hetty allows him to leave to pursue it.
