Spartacus : Gods of the Arena S02E01

Episode 01 - Past Transgressions (21/01/2011)..

Once young Batiatus finally gets the control of his father's gladiator school, he immediately begins to plot to make a profitable business out of his ludus. In order to succeed, he puts his most skilled fighter into good use to gain the favour of a rich and cunning nobleman who can help fund the building of a new arena.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena is a Starz television mini-series and prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which premiered January 21, 2011. The series follows the character Gannicus (Dustin Clare), the first gladiator to become Champion of Capua. Cast members and characters being reprised from the original series include John Hannah as Batiatus, Lucy Lawless as Lucretia, Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, and Manu Bennett as Crixus. IGN gave the series positive reviews, especially the finale, giving it a 9.5/10 and calling it "Incredible".

The mini-series features the bloody history of the House of Batiatus and the city of Capua before the arrival of Spartacus. Quintus Lentulus Batiatus becomes a lanista (manager) when he takes over his father's ludus of gladiators. He has ambitions of stepping out of his father's shadow by seeking recognition for his own name and achieving greatness for his house. By his side stands his beautiful wife Lucretia who will help her husband achieve his goal no matter what the cost. Batiatus puts all his fortunes on the man who will gain him fame and glory, his best gladiator, the Celt, Gannicus; a skilled warrior who wields his swords in the arena as if it were his last day alive. However, there are those who oppose Batiatus and his future champion(s) of Capua, plotting against him only to fall in failure. Purchased as an undisciplined and disheveled recruit in the first episode, the Gaul Crixus endures mockery and threats of death to become the greatest gladiator in the house after Gannicus. As Batiatus fends off repeated attempts by his professional rival Tullius to obtain Gannicus, his relationships with his father Titus and friend Solonius begin to suffer the strain of Quintus' relentless ambition. Former champion gladiator Oenomaus reluctantly retires from combat to become Doctore, while Syrian recruits Ashur and Dagan become fierce enemies as Ashur tries to prove himself worthy of being a gladiator. Veteran gladiators Barca and Gannicus accept the rising star of Crixus but fear that their own careers will suffer, as the machinations of Batiatus and Lucretia to court Capua's elite end in tragedy for several members of the household. Against all of this, the city's splendid new arena nears completion and with it the opening games that will make men into gods.

Fringe S03E10

Episode 10 - The Firefly (21/01/2011)

An Observer makes contact with the Fringe Team to help rectify a mistake. Meanwhile, Walter befriends Roscoe Joyce, keyboardist for Walter's favorite 1970s band, "Violet Sedan Chair." Walter will learn the real reason the band broke up, and realize that the lives of these two men, who have never met before, overlap in strange and unexpected ways.

Fringe follows the casework of the Fringe Division, a Joint Federal Task Force supported primarily by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which includes Agent Olivia Dunham; Dr. Walter Bishop, the archetypal mad scientist; and Peter Bishop, Walter's estranged son and jack-of-all-trades. They are supported by Phillips Broyles, the force's director, and Agent Astrid Farnsworth, who assists Walter in laboratory research. The Fringe Division investigates cases relating to fringe science, ranging from transhumanist experiments gone wrong to the prospect of a destructive technological singularity to a possible collision of two parallel universes. The Fringe Division's work often intersects with advanced biotechnology developed by a company called Massive Dynamic, founded by Walter's former partner, Dr. William Bell and run by their common friend, Nina Sharp. The team is also watched silently by a group of bald, pale men who call themselves "Observers".

Season 1 introduces the Fringe Division as they investigate cases that form "the Pattern", many orchestrated by the bioterrorist organization, ZFT (Zerstörung durch Fortschritte der Technologie, or in English, Destruction through advances in technology). Olivia comes to learn she was a child test subject for Walter years ago for a nootropic drug, Cortexiphan, giving her weak psionic abilities. Walter also struggles with adjusting to normal life in Peter's care after living several years in a mental institution, and hides a secret about Peter's past from him.

In Season 2, the occurrences are found to be in conjunction with activities of a parallel universe, which is plagued by singularities occurring at weakened points of their world. The Fringe team deals with more cases that are leading to a "perfect storm" as the parallel universe appears to be at war with the prime one. Walter is forced to tell Peter that he is from the parallel universe, a replacement for his own Peter that died from a genetic disease, and that it is his prior experiments that caused the singularities in the parallel universe.

Season 3 presents episodes that alternate between the two universes. "Walternate", Walter's doppelgänger in the parallel universe, has set events in motion to assemble a doomsday device that reacts only to Peter's biology, sending his Olivia, "Fauxlivia", into the prime universe in Olivia's place, get close to Peter, and guide them to find the doomsday device's prime universe counterpart. Olivia, trapped in the parallel universe, is subjected to experimentation by Walternate to explore her Cortexiphan-induced abilities. She is able to escape to her own universe using her psionic abilities and expose Fauxlivia to Peter. Fauxlivia is extracted to the parallel universe, having withdrawn a critical component of the doomsday device, but soon finds she is pregnant with Peter's child. In the prime universe, Olivia and Peter resolve their relation due to Fauxlivia's involvement, while evidence of weak points in the fabric of reality start to develop.

American Idol S10E02

Episode 02 - New Orleans Auditions (20/01/2011)

Night two of the American Idol premiere began with a cold opening that read: "October 17, 2010. Blake Patterson has just auditioned for American Idol in New Orleans." Cut to a young man sitting at a piano, bawling, while singing "Smile." Oh the irony! "He won't be going to Hollywood." If I was an employer and Blake Patterson interviewed with me, I would be afraid to not give him the job.

Since yesterday's show, when I think of the American Idol theme song, I can hear Victoria Huggins mimicking it in my head. The judges arrived in Randy Jackson's home state, and what was on Steven Tyler's head?! It was a tiny top hat with a tiny veil. I guess when you're one of the most successful rock stars in the world, you can wear whatever the heck you want. The last time we went to New Orleans, Ryan had bleached flat-ironed hair. Steven took his seat at the judges' table, but he has a defunct chair. Jennifer Lopez looks as gorgeous as ever and her hot pink top matches the set, which raises the old chicken and the egg question. Did Jennifer wear pink to match the set, or did the set turn pink to match Jennifer?

Jordan Dorsey is a musician and teacher from LaPlace, LA. One of his adorable students sang Jordan's praises. Jordan was far more dressed up for his teaching job than he was for his audition, but once he began crooning "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," all thoughts about attire went out the window. He started slow and then jazzed up the song. Jennifer couldn't help but squeal with delight and she said, "I have goose pimples all over my body and it's cold in here already so stop!" As if her squealing wasn't adorable enough, she said "goose pimples!" Those are probably the only kind of pimples Jennifer gets. With no deliberating from the judges, they shouted "yes" and Jordan and the Dorsey entourage (that could be the name of his future band) went nuts.

David LaRocca is also from LaPlace, but he must not have taken vocal lessons from Jordan. He was sent home along with Najsha Palmer, Jarrell Brewer, and Kiana Cardona, who wouldn't stop singing, even as Randy begged her to quit.

Sarah Sellers looked like the girl in the next cubicle, but Steven was immediately drawn to her prominent lips. The marketing analyst-by-day-singer/blogger-by-night sang "Make You Feel My Love" by Bob Dylan, and her version sounded on par with Adele's beautiful version of the song. The first Steven-ism of the night occurred at this moment when the rocker commented, "You had me sold the second you laid eyes on me." With three yeses and comments that she's the best the judges have heard, Sarah's off to Hollywood.

Jovany Barreto builds ships in Louisiana, and his Cuban American family is so big that they took up the entire holding room at New Orleans auditions. He's always loved Jennifer, but when she married his idol (Marc Anthony), that just sealed the deal. His shipyard bros bet him $100 to take his shirt off for Jennifer. Jovany auditioned with a Spanish song by Luis Miguel. When he was finished, Randy asked Jennifer if that was good, but you don't need to know Spanish to know that sounded really nice. Steven thought Jovany's "melodic sensibility was really delicious," and the judges give Jovany a ticket to Hollywood. When Jovany revealed that he now must remove his shirt, Randy and Steven got in on the fun. In the spirit of N'Awlins, they lifted up their shirts for Jennifer, but she had no beads to toss at them. Evidently, building ships does a number on a man's physique.

Randy's brother Herman Jackson stopped by NOLA auditions, and Ryan said that Herman gave Randy his charm and good looks. Hmmm, how does that work? My brother gave me a black eye and a scar on my knuckle if that counts. The best part of being in Randy's hometown means pictures of the dawg with a flat top and old school glasses. Hollywood hopeful Jacquelyn Dupree had yearbook photos of Randy in his teeny tiny track shorts. Her uncle was Randy's football coach in high school, so the panel called him into the audition room. I would question the coach about Randy's football skills, but Steven used this as an opportunity to ask him about paddling. Jacquelyn gave a serious performance of "I'll Stand By You," which earned her three yeses.

Sixteen-year-old Brett Loewenstern has big, red, curly hair. He called himself a red apple in a pile of green apples. He was bullied as a kid, but overcame it by learning to love himself. Brett is confident these days, plus guitar slingers are always popular. Was that his mom in his interview? She's gorgeous! Brett entered the audition room and asked Steven if he remembered him from their elevator encounter earlier in the day. Steven played along, but you know he only thinks about love in an elevator. After some conversation about curly hair products, Steven said, "I used to use baby oil but now I use [chicken clucks] balk bock bock." The unassuming auditioner sang "Bohemian Rhapsody," and he made Jennifer melt into Steven. With more goose pimples on her arms, Jennifer and the judging panel gave Brett a resounding "yes!"

Gabriel Franks struggled to adhere his contestant number to his shirt, and during his audition you could see that the end of his shirt was stuck under the number. He won a Steven Tyler look-a-like contest, but Steven said, "You have something that I know well, Mick Jagger's mouth." I'd love to hear the story behind that one day. Despite looking like a '60s rocker, Gabriel went the pop route with "Bad Romance." The vocals weren't awful, but his eyes kept rolling back in his head. The only thing more amusing than Gabriel's facial expressions were Jennifer's. She's getting the hang of delivering bad news and immediately jumped in with, "It's a no."

Alex Attardo went to Idol Camp, so I was expecting big things from him. His version of "Proud Mary" was a disaster. That's two bad covers of "Proud Mary" in two days.

Another unassuming young man, Jacee Badeaux, is only 15 but he looks younger and his speaking voice hasn't gone through "the change" yet. He sang "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" and showed maturity beyond his 12, er 15, years. Jennifer said Jacee was so sweet and cute and Steven gave the boy "two yeses and a double helping of ooh yeah." Jacee left with a ticket to Hollywood and his family showed some tired enthusiasm as they walked to the car.

Paris Tassin became pregnant at 18 and was told there were complications with her baby. She kept on with the pregnancy and welcomed a baby girl who, now 5 years old, has hearing problems but is a bright, healthy girl. Paris auditioned with Carrie Underwood's beautiful "Temporary Home," which contains the lyrics "Young mom on her own...at night she whispers to her baby girl, someday we'll find our place here in this world." Mama Jennifer shed some tears. American Idol, why do you leave us each night with tears in our eyes! The emotional judges gave Paris three yeses, and at the end of the episode, Jennifer found Paris and her baby in the lobby and told the little girl how good her mom was before wrapping them in her arms. Jennifer! I'm loving you on American Idol!

At the end of two days in the Big Easy, 37 singers are Hollywood-bound. One victorious singer called a loved one to share the good news, and when the person on the other end of the phone cursed, the editors stamped an American Idol logo over the cellular device. Classic!

See you next week for Milwaukee auditions. I'll bring the tissues!

American Idol S10E01

Episode 01 - New Jersey Auditions (19/01/2011)

American Idol's milestone 10th season started by confronting the Idol headlines of summer 2010: Jennifer Lopez is in, Jennifer's out. Sean Combs and Justin Timberlake want to become judges. Nope, Jennifer's back. Wait, it's Elton John and Steven Tyler. Nope, it's my mom. After a summer of speculation, we found out the Dawg, Randy Jackson, is back, and he's joined by talented superstars Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, who aren't doing this because they need another paycheck; they seem to be doing this because they're passionate about the future of music. By the end of the premiere we no longer had to wonder how they'd do; we'd feel like they've been judging the show forever.

We're doing big stuff for Season 10—check out that glitzy, sleek intro! In addition to the winners, I think I spied some favorite finalists in the intro: Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, and Adam Lambert.

If you thought Simon showed a lot of skin with his v-neck shirts, meet Steven. And we're four minutes into the first episode and we just got our first Steven Tyler "bleep" of the night. Live shows are going to be so much fun!

After some fist pumping montages paired with Jersey Shore graphics, we met our first contestant, Rachel Zevita. She auditioned in Season 6 with a big opera voice that sent her to Hollywood. Although she was turned away, Rachel cutely talks about being inspired not to give up. I'm glad to see she also learned to gain control over her hair and wardrobe. Jennifer admits to remembering Rachel from Season 6 and said that she and husband Marc Anthony didn't know why she didn't make the show. Rachel was now feeling good as she sang the Idol anthem of recent times, "Hallelujah," which is a bit different than her opera roots. Although the judges thought she could do better, they believed in Rachel Zevita and send her to Hollywood once again.

Another crooner with dark, curly hair, Caleb Hawley, auditioned for the judges. Steven said, "We're all here because we're not all there," and then snapped and sang the "yeaaaahs" along with Caleb. Steven drummed on the desk, and when Caleb was finished Steven praised him with, "Hallelujah, I just love you so!" This season is going to be great. I'm sold. Jennifer and Randy also liked Caleb and sent him through to Hollywood.

The competition was open to 15-year-olds for the first time, and Kenzie Palmer was the first to audition for the judges. She bravely chose to sing Carrie Underwood's "We're Young and Beautiful." Kenzie is the type of 15 year old that has vocal talent beyond her years, and Jennifer agreed with me. The male judges weren't as convinced, but they still sent Kenzie (and her chaperone) through to the next round.

After a quick montage of three additional successful contestants, we meet the Ivory Coast's Achille Lovle, who sang Madonna's "Dress You Up." Achille is currently dressed up in the same shirt as Ryan. I never would have guessed that was the song she was singing had she not admitted it. She has a confident stance, but the song is all over the place. Steven asked her to pull her wild horses in. Do Mick Jagger & Keith Richards get residual checks for that comment? Achille's performance forced Jennifer to give her first no, and after she politely said the word, she stated, "Oh this is awful, oh my god I hate this. Why did I sign up for this?"

Tiffany Rios gave a demonstration on teasing hair and then shows off her *assets.* This dance instructor started singing because of the movie Selena (starring the one and only Jennifer Lopez), and she cried when she walked in the audition room and saw Jennifer. Mama Lopez hugged Tiffany, who then totally shifted gears when she ripped open her blouse as she sang her original song. Steven commented on Tiffany's "Ju Ju B's on your oo-oo-bies," and although I'm not sure what that meant, she took it as a cue to sing another song. The judges were pleased with her more serious side, and Tiffany grinded on the dance floor and was off to Hollywood, where I think she'll fit in!

Cue the bad singers' montage. I'd tell you what songs they were singing but I couldn't make out the melodies. Although Jennifer was having trouble giving bad news to these contestants, Melkia Wheatfall was so bad that even Jennifer cut her off...with applause and a gentle let down.

Robbie Rosen is a 16-year-old who looks like a more adorable version of Doogie Howser's friend Vinny. Although Robbie was playing ball on the grass at auditions, we found out that he was wheelchair-bound as a child. This kid is always smiling—whether he's talking about his severe tendonitis, his love of American Idol, or singing. As he performed "Yesterday" for the judges, Steven closed his eyes and got lost for a moment. I'm not sure if it was because of the music or just because he's Steven. Randy liked his "crazy, mad vocals" and Jennifer called Robbie cute. When Robbie goes back to high school, he's surely going to be the most popular kid. Randy asks if they should vote, but Jennifer said no and sent him to Hollywood. Steven called Robbie Rosen "the best in New Jersey."

Chris Cordeiro is a college freshman whose Eagle Scout project was about not texting and driving. Oprah would be proud. He's so unassuming; I'm hoping he has a huge voice. It's huge alright, but his grandma in the hallway did a better job staying on key with Sinatra's "My Way." After turning Chris away, Jennifer questioned how Randy did this for 10 years.

Michael Perotto burps when he's nervous, which doesn't bode well for interviews or auditions. He dared to tackle "Proud Mary," and Steven and Jennifer drummed along, but they probably were doing that to drown out the noise of the vocals. Jennifer had Steven stop Michael from singing, and Steven asked him, "Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?" Steven thought Michael's good for Broadway, which is an insult to all the amazing people on Broadway.

Ashley Sullivan doesn't burp, but the cameras captured her coming out of the Port-O-Potty. She stated that she might be the "first awkward Idol." She's obsessed with Britney Spears and wants her career, minus the head shaving incident I presume, and Ashley literally has a picture of Brit in her back pocket. She rambles when she's nervous, which is an upgrade from burping. Ashley auditioned with "Gimme Gimme" from Thoroughly Modern Millie. The judges were speechless, and Ashley assumed it was a bad sign and cried and pleaded. Jennifer thought she's adorable, but is more suited for Broadway than Idol, to which Ashley responded, "Pop needs to get with Liza Minelli." She brings on the over-the-top theatrics and Randy said no, but Jennifer broke down with a yes. Steven said yes, too, and Randy called them insane. Ashley gave a speech worthy of a Tony Award in her confessional.

Southern belle Victoria Huggins is excited to be 16 and ¾. Don't most kids leave the fractions out once they learn what fractions are? She's beyond enthusiastic and smiley and pink. The AmericanIdol.com team can attest to the fact that I'm chipper to a fault, but I could not last in a car ride with this syrupy family. Victoria transitioned from a little girl to a young adult when she sang "Midnight Train To Georgia." Jennifer and Steven gave her yeses, and when she directed a "Yo, yo dawg" with two peace signs at Randy, she won him over.

Melinda Ademi and her family are refugees from Kosovo. She has a nice speaking voice and back story. Her parents have worked hard to provide her with opportunities. They look so young I thought they were her siblings. Her version of "If Ain't Got You" impressed the judges, and the Ademis' American dream will continue in Hollywood.

Day two in Jersey began with singing waitress Devyn Rush. She has to dress like a ‘50s girl much like Monica did on Friends, and her name tag said she's "The Devyler." Steven thought Devyn's version of "God Bless the Child" was like having a delicious dessert for lunch. Randy thought it had just the right amount of sauce, and Jennifer wanted her to start looking like a star, because her voice is a star. Good point, she was more made up for her waitress job than her audition for America's biggest TV show. With three yeses, Devyn burst out the audition room and hugged Ryan while exclaiming, "I don't even know you!"

Jimmy Kennedy sang "Hey There Delilah," but it wasn't very good. Next came a Monkees sing-a-long with Genise Deal. It was fun, but not fun enough. Many American Idol logos had to appear over Steven's mouth. That's a big logo!

Yoji "Pop" Asano is from Japan. Twice he said he's been imitating Michael Jackson since he was 2, but then he decided that he's been doing it since he was in the womb. So what does he sing for his audition? Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA," naturally. His dancing resembled the King of Pop more than his voice. Jennifer was bouncing in her chair, thoroughly entertained. This led to a "Party in the USA" montage.

Jaclyn Blythe, Ima Abasumoh, and Rob Palamy not only sang less than well, they chose huge songs for their auditions. Jennifer channeled her mom—a teacher—and gave them a feedback sandwich: you know, a con nestled between pros.

Brielle Von Hugel's dad was a singer, but he was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. The Von Hugels were thrilled to share that this week he became cancer-free. Young Brielle auditioned with "Endless Love," a very emotional song. Steven asked her to bring her dad into the audition room by singing his name, and while Brielle left to get Poppa Bill, Steven scream-sings "Da-ddyyyy" the way only he can. All three judges saw her potential and encouraged her to work hard as she heads to Hollywood.

The show ended with Travis Orlando, a twin who spent some time in a Bronx shelter while his dad was sick. He has an inspiring story and he's the last one of the night. It would be a let down if he wasn't awesome. Travis entered the room and put his own jazzy spin on "Eleanor Rigby" and Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours." When the judges announced that he was going to Hollywood, Travis' family rushed into the room to celebrate. Ryan came into the room with leaky eyes and said that 51 singers from New Jersey auditions are off to Hollywood. That's got to be a record!

Thursday night we head to New Orleans to find more talent, and the male judges lift up their shirts in true Mardi Gras style.

Criminal Minds S06E12

Episode 12 - Corazon (19/01/2011)

In a barrio of Miami, an UnSub practitioner of a dark Afro-Caribbean religion has been killing people, cutting off their hands, and stuffing shells in their mouth and eyes. The BAU team flies to Florida to stop him before he kills again.

Upon arriving in Miami, the team visits the house of the latest victim in order to look for clues. Then they pay a visit to the soup kitchen nearby where they meet Jimmy Mercado, a local who knew the victim. Jimmy tells them about Santeria, but explains that human mutilation and sacrifice are not parts of the religion. They also meet Julio Ruiz, who runs the soup kitchen, and his teenage assistant Elian. Both also practice Santeria, but have no desire to talk to the cops.

Hoping to find out more about Santeria and other Afro-Caribbean religions, Garcia directs the team to the office of professor Hollis Walker at the university of Miami. He tells them that the killings could be a result of Palo Mayombe, a dark, bizarre religion that involves a severed human head as part of its rituals. The professor tells the team that he is almost finished writing the only book on the subject. The meeting is interrupted with the news that Jimmy Mercado is dead – the killer is now targeting people who spoke with our team.

After giving the profile, our team goes back to the soup kitchen, and this time a full-blown Santeria service is going on. After breaking it up, Julio is dragged back to the station for further questioning. Turns out he was in jail for 15 years after being part of a gang that was known to cut off the body parts of their enemies.

After interviewing Julio, Reid realizes that he is not their man – the soup kitchen proprietor is genuinely remorseful. His protégé, Elian, does not seem quite so clean. Our team uncovers drugs and remnants of the victims in his bedroom, and the child seems to have fled the scene. Using Julio as a guide, we race to find Elian before he kills again.

Upon further review of the evidence, though, it starts to look like Elian was framed. Parts of the crimes fit in with Palo Mayombe, but others did not. No prints were left at the scene, but a bloody footprint conveniently matched a shoe found in Elian’s room. Prentiss and Morgan figure it out first: it’s professor Walker, trying to get press for his book, who did the crimes and framed Elian.

Back at the soup kitchen, Julio is kidnapped while searching for Elian. There’s no trace of him when our team gets there on the trail of the professor. When Reid is drawn out of the main building and toward a nearby chapel, he stumbles upon the killer and a tied-up Julio. After a tense struggle, Reid manages to outsmart and overpower his assailant, and the rest of the team shows up to arrest the UnSub and free Julio and Elian.

This case is bookended by scenes of Dr. Reid in a hospital getting an MRI of his brain. He has been suffering from very bad headaches and even some mild hallucinations. Throughout the episode, it is hinted that there might be something very wrong with Reid, but in the end the scans of his brain are normal. The doctors suggest he might be suffering psychosomatic symptoms due to stress.

Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyse the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next move before they strike again.

Also on the team are Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), the daughter of an ambassador and a surprise addition that neither Hotchner or Gideon signed off on; Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), an expert in obsessional crimes; Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), a classical misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; and Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau (A.J. Cook), a confident young agent who acts as the unit liaison for the team. Also helping the team is Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), the team's audio/visual technician.

A group of teenagers, 5 girls and 4 boys, are introduced in this US version of the hit UK series. The first episode introduces us to Tony.

Created by father and son team at Stormdog Films, Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, the ground-breaking series "Skins" features an ensemble cast as they navigate complex relationships, the politics of friendship and difficulties of daily life in their formative years. Elsley will be writing and executive producing the adapted version - which, like the U.K version, will be largely influenced by teenagers. In 2009, MTV landed the US broadcast rights to the critically-acclaimed U.K. program. Unknown teenagers have been cast in the lead roles and real teens will help write the storylines, similar to how Elsley wrote the UK series, now in its 5th season. The network will work collaboratively with the series producers to preserve the authenticity of the British version. The series, which aired on E4 in the UK, quickly became a commercial and critical success, winning the 2009 BAFTA Audience Award, which was voted on by the public, and Best Drama Series at the 2008 Broadcast Awards.
