Musical guest Nicki Minaj!

The 36th season of the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live is currently in production. The season began on September 25, 2010, with former cast member Amy Poehler serving as host and Katy Perry as the musical guest.

Saturday Night Live (SNL) is a live late-night television sketch comedy and variety show developed by Lorne Michaels and Dick Ebersol. It premiered on NBC, a terrestrial television network in the United States, on October 11, 1975, under the original title of NBC's Saturday Night.

The show's sketches often parody contemporary American culture and politics. Saturday Night Live features a two-tiered cast consisting of repertory members, also called the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players" (the name used by the show's original cast), and newer cast members who are known as "Featured Players."

Each week, the show features a host who delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast. A musical guest also performs. With the exception of season 7, the show has begun with a cold open sketch (usually based around politically-themed current events) that ends with someone breaking character and proclaiming, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

Spartacus : Gods of the Arena S02E02

Episode 02 - Missio (28/01/2011)..

Batiatus comes up with a brilliant plan and enlists Lucretia, Gaia and a slew of the new gladiator recruits to see it through. Meanwhile, Oenomaus passionately desires to take back the top gladiator rank, but he's forced to fight for it.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena is a Starz television mini-series and prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which premiered January 21, 2011. The series follows the character Gannicus (Dustin Clare), the first gladiator to become Champion of Capua. Cast members and characters being reprised from the original series include John Hannah as Batiatus, Lucy Lawless as Lucretia, Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, and Manu Bennett as Crixus. IGN gave the series positive reviews, especially the finale, giving it a 9.5/10 and calling it "Incredible".

The mini-series features the bloody history of the House of Batiatus and the city of Capua before the arrival of Spartacus. Quintus Lentulus Batiatus becomes a lanista (manager) when he takes over his father's ludus of gladiators. He has ambitions of stepping out of his father's shadow by seeking recognition for his own name and achieving greatness for his house. By his side stands his beautiful wife Lucretia who will help her husband achieve his goal no matter what the cost. Batiatus puts all his fortunes on the man who will gain him fame and glory, his best gladiator, the Celt, Gannicus; a skilled warrior who wields his swords in the arena as if it were his last day alive. However, there are those who oppose Batiatus and his future champion(s) of Capua, plotting against him only to fall in failure. Purchased as an undisciplined and disheveled recruit in the first episode, the Gaul Crixus endures mockery and threats of death to become the greatest gladiator in the house after Gannicus. As Batiatus fends off repeated attempts by his professional rival Tullius to obtain Gannicus, his relationships with his father Titus and friend Solonius begin to suffer the strain of Quintus' relentless ambition. Former champion gladiator Oenomaus reluctantly retires from combat to become Doctore, while Syrian recruits Ashur and Dagan become fierce enemies as Ashur tries to prove himself worthy of being a gladiator. Veteran gladiators Barca and Gannicus accept the rising star of Crixus but fear that their own careers will suffer, as the machinations of Batiatus and Lucretia to court Capua's elite end in tragedy for several members of the household. Against all of this, the city's splendid new arena nears completion and with it the opening games that will make men into gods.

Fringe S03E11

Episode 11 - Reciprocity (28/01/2011)

When the Fringe Team visits Massive Dynamic's assembly of doomsday device, Walter becomes greatly concerned for Peter's well-being, so he turns to Nina for added brain power to understand the relationship between Peter and the super-weapon. Meanwhile, the discovery of a dead body triggers an intense investigation.

Fringe follows the casework of the Fringe Division, a Joint Federal Task Force supported primarily by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which includes Agent Olivia Dunham; Dr. Walter Bishop, the archetypal mad scientist; and Peter Bishop, Walter's estranged son and jack-of-all-trades. They are supported by Phillips Broyles, the force's director, and Agent Astrid Farnsworth, who assists Walter in laboratory research. The Fringe Division investigates cases relating to fringe science, ranging from transhumanist experiments gone wrong to the prospect of a destructive technological singularity to a possible collision of two parallel universes. The Fringe Division's work often intersects with advanced biotechnology developed by a company called Massive Dynamic, founded by Walter's former partner, Dr. William Bell and run by their common friend, Nina Sharp. The team is also watched silently by a group of bald, pale men who call themselves "Observers".

Season 1 introduces the Fringe Division as they investigate cases that form "the Pattern", many orchestrated by the bioterrorist organization, ZFT (Zerstörung durch Fortschritte der Technologie, or in English, Destruction through advances in technology). Olivia comes to learn she was a child test subject for Walter years ago for a nootropic drug, Cortexiphan, giving her weak psionic abilities. Walter also struggles with adjusting to normal life in Peter's care after living several years in a mental institution, and hides a secret about Peter's past from him.

In Season 2, the occurrences are found to be in conjunction with activities of a parallel universe, which is plagued by singularities occurring at weakened points of their world. The Fringe team deals with more cases that are leading to a "perfect storm" as the parallel universe appears to be at war with the prime one. Walter is forced to tell Peter that he is from the parallel universe, a replacement for his own Peter that died from a genetic disease, and that it is his prior experiments that caused the singularities in the parallel universe.[3]

Season 3 presents episodes that alternate between the two universes. "Walternate",[4] Walter's doppelgänger in the parallel universe, has set events in motion to assemble a doomsday device that reacts only to Peter's biology, sending his Olivia, "Fauxlivia", into the prime universe in Olivia's place, get close to Peter, and guide them to find the doomsday device's prime universe counterpart. Olivia, trapped in the parallel universe, is subjected to experimentation by Walternate to explore her Cortexiphan-induced abilities. She is able to escape to her own universe using her psionic abilities and expose Fauxlivia to Peter. Fauxlivia is extracted to the parallel universe, having withdrawn a critical component of the doomsday device, but soon finds she is pregnant with Peter's child. In the prime universe, Olivia and Peter resolve their relation due to Fauxlivia's involvement, while evidence of weak points in the fabric of reality start to develop.

The Vampire Diaries S02E12

Episode 12 - The Descent (27/01/2011)

Elena has a new plan for the future, but Stefan has his own thoughts about how she should handle the situation. Damon tries to get the truth out of Jules and asks Elena to watch Rose, but things quickly become dangerous. Matt and Caroline try to be honest about how they feel about each other, and Caroline is surprised to see how Tyler reacts to her generosity. Damon finds it difficult to hide his true feelings when a life-and-death situation impacts him more than he expected.

Returning for its second season, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is the story of two vampire brothers obsessed with the same beautiful girl, and battling to control the fate of an entire town. During season one, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), returned to their hometown of Mystic Falls, Virginia, for very different reasons - Stefan was determined to get to know Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), who bears a striking resemblance to Katherine Pierce, the beautiful but ruthless vampire the brothers knew and loved in 1864, while Damon was intent on releasing Katherine from the tomb where he believed she was trapped by a witch's spell all those years ago.

In the season one finale, Elena's uncle Johnathan (guest star David Anders) set a plan in motion that brought the Founder's Day celebration to an end amid chaos, destruction and death, and saw the return of the vengeful Katherine Pierce. Elena's troubled younger brother, Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen), was so devastated by the death of Anna (Malese Jow), the vampire who befriended him, that he lost all hope and took an overdose of pills. That same night, Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino), Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) and Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) were in a serious car accident while trying to escape the chaos in the town square, and Caroline was rushed to the hospital, her life hanging in the balance. The events of that terrible night will also have long-range effects on Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham), the powerful witch who was Elena's best friend until the vampire brothers came between them; Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) the vampire-hunter who has become an unlikely ally for Stefan and Damon; and Jenna (Sara Canning), who has yet to discover the violence that occurred in her own home.

In season two, the appearance of the villainous Katherine in Mystic Falls will throw a wrench into the love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon, and the other residents of Mystic Falls must choose sides as they fall victim to a new breed of danger. New and unexpected friendships will be forged, allies will become enemies, and hearts will be broken. Stefan and Damon will be forced to face a villain more evil and diabolical than they ever believed possible.

Based on the series of books by L. J. Smith, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is from Bonanza Productions Inc., Outerbanks Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy.

American Idol S10E04

Episode 04 - Nashville Auditions (27/01/2011)

Nashville auditions kicked off on a high note--literally. THIS is American Idol, in Nashville!

It was only American Idol's second time in Music City, and they were hoping to find the next Carrie Underwood there. Over 17,000 people completely took over Broadway, Nashville's main street, and filled Bridgestone Arena. The judges were at the Grand Ole Opry's historic Ryman Auditorium to listen to the Season 10 hopefuls. First up, Christine McCaffrey, a dental assistant who loves her job and speaks with crazy intonation. I think she may have inhaled too much of that nitrous oxide. Randy asked her if she does voiceovers for cartoons, and Christine said she didn't know. How do you not know if you do voiceovers or not? She sang one of Jennifer's favorite songs, "I Hope You Dance," or as Christine called it, "I Hope You Can Dance." Sounds like a new reality dance competition. Unfortunately for Christine, she wasn't one of those contestants with a weird speaking voice and a huge, sultry singing voice. Although Christine received three nopes, she was very chipper and told Ryan that Steven said yes and liked her. Stay away from the gas mask.

A girl and guy entered the audition venue together. Chelsee Oaks and Rob Bolin are 23 and from Nashville. They're exes who have been singing together since the very start of their relationship. You'd think they'd avoid auditioning together, but Chelsee and Rob still lived together after they called it quits. When they took the Ryman stage, romantic comedy star Jennifer Lopez tried to give them some therapy and encouraged them to get back together. Steven picked up on Rob's love for Chelsee. The ex-couple sang together and they harmonized really well, even though they were singing a love song while facing each other. This could become a movie! Each contestant then sang separately, and the parts were as good as the sum. Both Chelsee and Rob are off to Hollywood, where Jennifer hopes--like in a Hollywood movie--they get back together. Steven said, "The deepest passion comes from friction," which was a lot more eye opening than "Slap the baby on the [butt] and call it Christmas!"

A streak of weirdness arrived in Nashvegas: a girl in her underwear and a girl who can touch her tongue to her nose (so can I!) which amazed Steven. Enter Allen Lewis, a tattoo artist with long straggly hair and a Bret Michaels bandana. He auditioned with Skynyrd's "Simple Man," and was doubled over as he belted out the song. Jennifer liked his laugh, and before the judges voted, Allen gave a speech about criticism and after inspiring the judges, he walked out of the room. I guess it's a no-go for Hollywood.

Stormi Henley is gorgeous. She's Miss Teen USA whose boss is Donald Trump. I'm not sure if auditioning for Idol is grounds for getting fired by Trump, but pageants have given Stormi the confidence to audition for Idol. She sang "Father Can You Hear Me," and Steven said, "You have a beautiful little tight [where is this going] squeaky little voice." Jennifer said no to Stormi, but the male judges couldn't resist giving her a yes. Miss Teen Tennessee is off to California.

After a string of rejections for a variety of singers, we met Adrienne Beasley from Kentucky. She works on a farm and was adopted by white parents (Adrienne's black) at the age of 2. Her super sweet parents talk about how well Adrienne fits into the family and how they gave her their blessing to audition for Idol. When Adrienne sang for the judges, they found something really special in her voice, and she nearly moved Steven to tears. With tears rolling down her face, Adrienne is off to Hollywood, and shared the news with her "tickled" father.

Kameela Merricks, a junior regional soloist, is a bubbly lady. She auditioned with a Chaka Khan song, and although her title as junior regional soloist is questionable, I could see her as Miss Congeniality. This gave way to more bad auditions. A man--I assume it was a man--covered in a blue spandex suit sang Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This," Polina Kozhikoza attempted to sing for the judges, and Patrick Counts was turned away and became inconsolable.

When a nervous contestant named Jackie Wilson auditioned for the judges, she was moved by the feeling of belting out her song on the Ryman stage. The judges were blown away too, and gave Jackie Wilson a ticket to Hollywood. When Jackie burst out of the auditorium she celebrated with what we assumed to be her parents, until she locked lips with the guy, and Ryan drew the conclusion that he was Jackie's boyfriend. Her love keeps lifting him higher! (Get it? Jackie Wilson?!)

LaToya "Younique" Moore is a pageant queen in her own heart and mind. She brought one album for the judges to share and sang "When I Close My Eyes." It was evident at this moment why she had to force her CD onto people. Although this unique singer was turned away, she stopped and sang at the doorway before leaving. What was the reason, in her mind, that she didn't make it through? She sang too slowly. A quick Ryan replied, "I think the judges were fine with the pace."

Solid auditions came from Paul McDonald who sang "Maggie May," Jimmie Allen with "Sunday Morning," and Danny Pate who nearly forgot his lyrics, but the judges joined him for a sing-a-long. All three young men are off to Hollywood, and their friends and loved ones lifted them into the air.

An overall-wearing, cowboy hat-sporting country boy name Matt Dillard comes from a home that takes in foster children with special needs. It was cute seeing this big, tattooed guy interacting with his siblings. His parents have taken in over 700 foster children. What saints! The country boy sang a Josh Groban song, "You Raise Me Up," and though the judges thought he might get eat up in the competition, they're giving him a second chance in Hollywood. Matt is going from the woods to the 'wood.

The night ended with Lauren Alaina, a 15-year-old from Rossville, GA. Her cousin Holly was a singer before she had a brain tumor, and Holly inspired Lauren to pursue singing. The judges had Holly join Lauren for her audition, and Lauren belted out her song, showing the reason why American Idol lowered the age limit. The judges were blown away by her talent, and Jennifer was even moved to tears, as was Lauren. The teen said that her super young-looking parents were dying to meet the judges, and since it was the end of the day, the whole family took the Ryman stage. Her parents' song is Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," so she began singing it and encouraged Steven to join in with her. She's got a great voice and a great personality, and she reminds me of a younger Kelly-Carrie hybrid. Not too shabby!

Next, we're off to Austin where we meet a girl who clucks and walks like a chicken. Only on American Idol...Insider, out!

Cougar Town S02E13

Episode 13 - Lost Children (26/01/2011)

The Cougar Town phrase of the moment is: Friend Test. Jules explains, "It's when you call your entire friendship into question and force them into doing something." Jules uses this test to force Ellie to come over for movie night after she's done shopping for Big Present Day. Her most recent self-given gift of gargantuan proportions is a big red and white pickup truck. Everyone let out their best trucker yell. Woo-hoo!

RANDOM BARB SCENE: Jules gets caught in Barb's tractor beam and is forced to listen to another one of her sex stories. The subject is unimportant (okay, it's about a Cuban sandwich where two cousins serve as the roll). Anyway, the highlight of the chat is when Jules explains to Barb that she's no longer a 40-something hottie chasing after younger men. She says, "What do I have to do? Change my name?!" Love it!

Bobby's bummed when he learns that the movie Waiting for Superman doesn't feature anyone hailing from the planet Krypton. No worries. Movie night is on hold because Jules messed up the TV. Ellie suggests they cruise around in her new truck, but Jules overrules. She wants to play Sardines in a Can. It's like hide-and-seek, but if you find the hider, you must then hide with them. The last person left looking is the loser. How fun is that?!

Ellie volunteers to hide first so that she can call Jules on her cell to say she's a bossy-pants control freak who makes everyone do what she wants. Odd neighbor Tom is the first to find Ellie hiding in the bed of her new pickup. Travis escapes his mom's relentless arguments as to why she's so NOT a controlling dictator to also make his way into the truck. Hey, shouldn't that boy be away at college?

Andy takes things personally when Grayson starts talking smack during a rousing game of Penny Can. When Andy refuses to talk about it, Grayson ties him to a tree with a hoodie. He heads to the back of the pickup where Ellie informs him that her hubby used to be teased endlessly by pretty boys just like him. The G-man finally gets it. He frees Andy from the tree, they both make nice and later join the others in the truck.

Bobby and Laurie sneak off to share some steaks and champagne at Grayson's place. They both love beef and bubbles. By the way, Beef and Bubbles would be their detective names if, you know, they were detectives. Bobby says he's been keeping his new girlfriend, Sam, away from the cul-de-sac crew because they tend to be too judgmental. Laurie promises they'll be cool, so Bobby calls Sam, who joins them in the back of Ellie's truck. Of course, all bets are off when Sam dumps him.

Jules is the last Sardine in a Can player out there. She stands in the middle of the cul-de-sac ready to snap. It's dark and she's tired of being alone. Her only recourse now is a Friend Test. Ellie has no choice but to show herself by standing up in the back of the truck. The rest of the cul-de-sac follows her lead. That Friend Test is a powerful weapon.

Jules apologizes for being such a dictator. The truth of the matter is that no one really minds. If they had to pick a group leader, Jules would win in a landslide. She's the one who brings all these sardines together in the same can or, in this case, truck. To celebrate this revelation, they can either play another round of Sardines in a Can or go inside and drink some wine. Any idea as to which idea wins out?

Cougar Town is an American television sitcom that premiered on ABC on 23 September 2009. The series focuses on a recently divorced mom in her forties facing the often humorous challenges, pitfalls and rewards of life's next chapter, along with her son, ex-husband, and friends who together make up her dysfunctional, but supportive and caring extended family.

American Idol S10E03

Episode 03 - Milwaukee Auditions (26/01/2011)

After coming off my two-night premiere high, I figured I couldn't possibly love American Idol more this week. I was proven wrong. This episode had me laughing, cringing, and almost crying. I also realized that American Idol cameramen have a risky job! It all started with another cold open: on October 2nd in Milwaukee. We hear a percussive noise--cut to Steven Tyler shaking a tin of mints while Randy sang "Love in an Elevator." Wrong song. He switched to "Sweet Emotion." Randy should stick to what he does best, and Steven did some free-styling. THIS is American Idol (and I'm loving it)!

Season 8's second runner-up, Danny Gokey, is a local hero in his hometown of Milwaukee, and he was at the auditions. Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were sporting some awesome sunglasses, and Steven arrived on the scene and said, "Slap that baby on the [bleep] and call it Christmas." I'm assuming that means he was jazzed about auditions.

With the new logo on the screen and the Milwaukee Art Museum all set-up, we were ready to go. As Jennifer and Randy checked out the view, Steven checked his reflection in the camera. First up was Garner, North Carolina's Scotty McCreery. He's an all-American boy with an adorable mom and a twinkle in his eye. The judges couldn't believe this guy with a very deep voice was only 16. He sang Josh Turner's "Young Man," which sounded velvety. The judges encouraged him to sing something higher, and he went with a Travis Tritt song. This second song stirred something up in Steven, who said, "Well hell fire save matches [bleep] a duck and see what hatches." The crew on set and the judges erupted. Scotty isn't even old enough to see a Rated R movie without adult supervision, but he assured the judges that it's nothing he hasn't heard on the playground. With applause and handshakes from the judges, Scott grabs a ticket to Hollywood. The judges believe they made their first big discovery!

Joe Repka is a jolly student who is an aspiring radio DJ. Ryan took him in as his apprentice for the day, and over and over again he practiced station identifications, but he was doing something weird with his fingers. He does have the personality for radio. He talked about his radio aspirations with the judges, and said he's a country music fan. So what does this country music fan sing for the judges? A song by Billy Joel and a song by Elvis. The judges politely encouraged him to stick to his radio dreams. Watch out, Ted Williams!

Fifteen year old Emma Henry got her learner's permit and drove her family, and an Idol cameraman, across the country to audition. American Idol has been on since she was five! There are kids auditioning this year that don’t know a world without American Idol. She auditioned with Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors," and she's so young I’m impressed she knew it was by Cyndi Lauper and not just the cast of GLEE. Jennifer has come along way since New Jersey auditions, and she had no problem saying "no." Steven said "yes," and before Randy could answer, a tearful Emma pleaded for Randy's vote. Randy and Jennifer felt that Emma will get eaten up in the competition, but Randy gave in with a "yes." Steven declared, “The dawg’s gonna turn into a pussy cat right now.”

Bad singer montage time! Kody Zalewski described his voice as bluesy and Sinatra-like, so naturally he auditioned with Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." It was a no for him, Juanita Borges in her interesting belly-revealing attire, Kamil Anthony, and Kanisha Miller (who you could tell thought she aced her Alicia Keys' song).

Milwaukee is home to Summerfest, and this year's music celebration included Idol stars Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, Danny Gokey, and the American Idols LIVE! 2010 Tour. Naima Adedapo works as a janitor at the fest, and she knows she belongs on that stage. She hopes to create a better life for her young daughters through American Idol. Singing Donny Hathaway's "For All We Know," Jennifer said Naima's one of the best they've seen and the other judges agree. Naima is going to Hollywood, and we saw more of the judges' chemistry as Steven and Randy told Jennifer what names they'd like to be called.

There was a party in the holding room and one guy backflipped right onto the cameraman who was laying on the ground to get a different perspective of the tumbling pass. The camera was crushed and so was the worker's lip. After listening to two bad auditions, Jovan Raymon's take on Jennifer's "Jenny from the Block" and a 54-year-old sparkly jumpsuit-clad dentist named Chris Kammer, we met bar-mitzvah singer Jerome Bell. I was hoping he'd audition with "Hava Nagila" but he sang Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," a song he must not perform at his job. The judges loved everything about Jerome and his performance and I loved his enthusiastic mom. With three cheers, Jerome is off to Hollywood. Mazel Tov!

Bieber Fever inspired Idol to lower the age limit, and the 15-year-olds were flying through to the next round. We met Thia Megia who was no exception to this rule. The judges loved her take on Adele's "Chasing Pavements." It shocked me to see such a big voice come out of such a pint-sized girl. After Steven praised Thia, Randy informed her that Steven's a legend, in case she's too young to know about Aerosmith. She probably thinks 22-year-old Adele is old! With praise from all three judges, you'll see Thia and her chaperone in Hollywood.

Nathaniel Jones is a Civil War reenactor. He assured us that his father is not a hippy, and he gave his reasons, which I will omit here. Nathaniel sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" for his audition. Did anyone else see that Randy was chuckling into his red cup? The judges didn't wave a ticket at him, but they saluted him. A very nervous auditioner named Mason Wilkinson took such a long pause to catch his breath before singing, it was uncomfortable to watch.

Molly DeWolf Swenson is a Harvard graduate and randomly got an internship at the White House, you know, cuz that just happens. She loves Obama, and she is probably almost as tall as he is. When Randy was high fiving people earlier, he missed Molly's hand and accidentally punched her in the face. She put her own unique, beautiful twist on “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” and I figured this is the type of girl that is good at everything she does. The judges were impressed with how low she started the song, and with three emphatic yeses, Molly's going from the White House to Tinseltown.

Haley Reinhart loves the sight of the judges and Steven likes the sight of her. Although she was turned away from Chicago auditions, she's back for another try and sang The Beatles' “Oh, Darling!” This 18-year-old has a very soulful voice. Randy said she improved from last year and is the first one to shout yes. Haley's going to Hollywood with three yeses.

Tiwan Strong is decked in all-white linen. This 29-year-old daycare teacher gave a spirited audition, and with three yeses, his family tackled him and nearly took Ryan down in the process. One of his loved ones doubled over with a charley horse, and the celebration music in the background of the episode kept starting and stopping as we saw cuts of the family celebrating, and the woman doubled over in pain. Dr. Ryan offered up medical advice to stay hydrated. This episode is killing me!

Steve Beguhun is a CPA and auditor, which doesn’t help him in the friends department. He also sings at weddings and funerals. When the tall guy entered the room, he made a joke about his name that went over the judges' and my head, and then sang a song by The Script. Steve proved that his singing is better than his stand-up comedy. “I found you to be disturbingly great,” said Steven. To celebrate, the Hollywood-bound CPA lifted Ryan into the air.

Vernika Patterson sang “Loving You," one of the harder songs to sing. The judges said she's not ready for the show and the angry lady asked the judges if it’s because she’s not skinny. Randy pointed out that some Idol winners haven’t been the smallest, so clearly that's not the case. As Vernika stormed out before waiting to hear any more from the judges, we saw clips of sad and aggressive contestants. One girl swat at a cameraman. Between driving with a 15-year-old, the tumbling pass gone wrong, and these women, it’s a risky job to be an Idol cameraman!

An Obama impersonator named Albert Rogers III didn't impress the judges with his vocals, but perhaps he can impress Obama fan/intern Molly DeWolfe Swensen. A girl with eagles and American flags on her blouse is a HUGE Packers fan. Her name is Megan Frazier and I am fearful of what the holding room would look like if she meets up with New Jersey's Victoria Huggins in Hollywood. However, her operatic take on Justin Bieber's "Baby" won't be sending her to Hollywood, so luckily we won't ever find out about that pairing.

Aly Jados idolizes Steven Tyler and cannot talk about him without getting giddy. Steven hugged Aly at her audition, which I bet didn't calm her nerves. She sang "Come Together," but then Randy encouraged her to sing Aerosmith's "Dream On." Steven helped her with the screaming, which must've been incredibly surreal for Aly. Of all people, her idol said it was a pitchy performance. With a yes and a no from Randy and Jennifer, it was up to Steven to decide Aly's fate. He sent her through to Hollywood and she became even more hysterical.

The episode ended with a heart-wrenching story. Chris Medina's fiancé, Juliana, was in a bad accident over two years ago. She suffered from a traumatic brain injury and woke up after over a month in a coma. Chris devotes his time to helping Juliana's mom care for her. Everyone commends Chris for doing this, but he posed the question, "What kind of a guy would I be if I walked out on her when she needed me the most?" He sang "Breakeven" by The Script, and during his performance Jennifer gave silent golf claps and a big grin. The judges asked Chris to bring Juliana in the room, which the singer said would make her really happy. They got up from their desk and walked over to her wheelchair to shake her hand. Steven gave her a kiss on her head and whispered, "That's why he sings so good, because he sings to you." Oh man, I just got chills typing that. Jennifer last week and Steven this week have shown these sides of them that are so genuine and human. As America cried, the Medina family cheered because Chris is going to Hollywood.

At the end of a two-day hunt in the land of cheese, 53 singers are off to Hollywood Week. See ya tomorrow for Nashville auditions. Yeehaw!

Criminal Minds S06E13

Episode 13 - The Thirteenth Step (26/01/2011)

In a story reminiscent of Natural Born Killers, two young lovers, Ray Donovan and Sydney Manning, go on an interstate murder spree. The BAU races to stop them.

We first meet Ray and Sydney in a convenience store in rural Ohio. They are talking about plans to get married. When the clerk makes an off-handed remark, however, they snap and begin shooting up the place. We quickly see them escalating their crimes – after tying the knot they shoot up a second quick-stop before dousing the whole place with gasoline and lighting it on fire. It is clear they are sexually aroused by helping each other kill.

The killers’ pathology becomes clearer when they stop at an AA meeting. That is where they met – Ray to try and get sober, Sydney on a court order. Ray, who has just relapsed, goes in to try and get clean again. But when he is met with derision upon telling the group about his history of abuse, he shoots the place up. He and Sydney then embark on a twisted version of the ninth step – making those who wronged them admit guilt before facing death at their hands.

With adept profiling and Garcia’s technical skills, our team narrows in on the killers. They finally track them down to a gas station store owned by Sydney’s father. When the couple attempt to escape, Morgan shoots Sydney, wounding her and forcing them into a hostage situation. It’s our team outside vs. the killers inside the store holding Sydney’s little sister Heather as collateral.

In the end, Morgan is able to get Ray to turn on his lover by convincing him that she killed his previous girlfriend, Amy. He kills her and then tries to escape, but dies in the process. Heather is safely recovered.
Meanwhile, Prentiss gets an unusual phone call from the leader of her old INTERPOL team in Paris. A deadly killer that she helped put away before joining the BAU has escaped, and the lives of her and her former teammates are all in jeopardy.

Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyse the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next move before they strike again.

David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) comes out of retirement to help the the Behavioral Analysis Unit lead by Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), a family man who's able to gain people's trust and unlock their secrets. Also on the team are Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), the daughter of an ambassador and a surprise addition that neither Hotchner or Gideon signed off on; Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), an expert in obsessional crimes; Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), a classical misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; and Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau (A.J. Cook), a confident young agent who acts as the unit liaison for the team. Also helping the team is Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), the team's audio/visual technician.

Hellcats is an American cheerleading comedy-drama television series that airs on The CW in the United States. Based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders by journalist Kate Torgovnick, the series focuses in the lives of college cheerleaders, mainly Marti Perkins (Aly Michalka), a pre-law college student who has to join the cheerleading team, the Hellcats, in order to get the athletic scholarship she needs. The main cast also includes Ashley Tisdale, Robbie Jones, Heather Hemmens, Matt Barr, Gail O'Grady and Sharon Leal.

In May 2010, Hellcats had been picked by The CW for the fall 2010–11 season. Initially with a 13-episode order, The CW aired the series after America's Next Top Model on Wednesday nights. The pilot episode aired on September 8, 2010, and became the first premiere to ever match or build on an America's Next Top Model lead-in since The CW began in 2006. The CW later gave a full season order for the series, with executives saying they were "thrilled that [it] paid off for us".

Hellcats follows Marti Perkins, a pre-law college student at Lancer University, who lost her scholarship and has no other choice but to join the college's cheer squad, the Hellcats, in order to obtain a new one.
