Episode 10 - What Happens at Home... (08/12/2010)
In the gated, New Mexico community of Oak Tree Hills, an UnSub has been killing women in their homes at night. When the security camera footage reveals that no one entered or left the community around the time of the killings, it becomes clear that the killer is someone in the neighborhood who everyone trusts.
While most of the team fly immediately down to New Mexico, Hotch first stops by a Quanitco training area to meet with recruit Ashley Seager. A young agent whose father was a famous serial killer, Hotch hopes to gain her insight onto how to profile the families of UnSubs. When Seager refuses to help unless Hotch temporarily makes her part of the team, both he and Ashley fly down to New Mexico to join the investigation.
In order to narrow down the suspect list, the BAU organize a town meeting for Oak Tree Hills, figuring the list of people who don't show up is a good place to start looking. When a few members of the neighborhood watch decide to patrol the empty streets with loaded guns instead of attending the meeting, our agents think they've found a solid place to start. When a fourth woman winds up dead during the meeting, it becomes clear that the killer is as confident as he is deadly - and is one of the twenty-five people who were no-shows.
Meanwhile, Seager decides to speak with the family of the third victim. When she mentions that the killer's family will be very sorry for what the UnSub did, the victim's huband Ben becomes enraged. How can she know what the killer's family will think? As it dawns on Seager that Ben is the killer, she manages to use stories of her own childhood to talk him into turning himself in. She explains that it is the only way to finally make the pain go away, and to keep his relationship with his family. When she admits that she still loves her dad despite all he did, Ben relents and goes quietly.

David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) comes out of retirement to help the the Behavioral Analysis Unit lead by Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), a family man who's able to gain people's trust and unlock their secrets. Also on the team are Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), the daughter of an ambassador and a surprise addition that neither Hotchner or Gideon signed off on; Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), an expert in obsessional crimes; Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), a classical misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; and Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau (A.J. Cook), a confident young agent who acts as the unit liaison for the team. Also helping the team is Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), the team's audio/visual technician.
Each member brings their own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators' motivations and identify their emotional triggers in an attempt to stop them.
