Episode 01 Week One Performance - 21/03/2011 Eleven celebrity stars of season 12 are showcased. In the two hour premiere the celebrity stars and their pro dancer partners will perform either the Foxtrot or the Cha Cha Cha.
FOXTROT:
• Chelsea Kane & Mark : "King of Anything" — Sara Bareilles
• Mike Catherwood & Lacey : "Cooler Than Me" — Mike Posner
• Ralph Macchio & Karina : "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?" — Dean Martin
• Petra Nemcova & Dmitry : "Don't Know Why" — Norah Jones
• Sugar Ray Leonard & Anna : "The Power of Love" — Huey Lewis & the News
Cha-Cha-Cha:
• Chris Jericho & Cheryl : "Should I Stay or Should I Go" — The Clash
• Hines Ward & Kym : "Club Can't Handle Me" — Flo Rida
• Kendra Wilkinson & Louis : "When Love Takes Over" — David Guetta & Kelly Rowland
• Kirstie Alley & Maks : "Forget You" — Cee Lo Green
• Romeo Miller & Chelsie : "Romeo" — Basement Jaxx
• Wendy Williams & Tony : "I'm Every Woman" — Chaka Khan
This season began with the first of two performance nights. For Week One, the stars took to the dancefloor to perform the Foxtrot or the Cha Cha. The biggest change this season is perhaps the feel of the show — from the costumes to the set to the music. But the headline is: Kirstie can dance!
Chelsea & Mark executed a solid first Foxtrot out the gates earning them 21 points.
Wendy & Tony did not fare so well. Wendy was unsure and, frankly, freaked out during her timid Cha Cha... only 14 points!
The Cha Cha danced by Hines & Kim was surprisingly spot on. Hines has moves, getting him a total of 21.
Petra & Dmitry's Foxtrot was smooth, graceful and impressive. Were they robbed with a mere 18 points?
Romeo & Chelsie looked great out there as a couple, but the judges want to see him improve. 19 points.
The Foxtrot performed by Sugar Ray & Anna had a sluggish start, but ended on point... 17 points, to be exact.
Team Kendra & Louis flaunted Kendra's shakables. She can move, but she also has room to improve with a total score of 18.
Ralph & Karina's Foxtrot impressed with the highest scores of the night. 24 points!
Chris & Cheryl did a Cha Cha to the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go" that got everyone fired up. 19 points.
Mike & Lacey's Foxtrot left room for improvment, but it was cute and a little bit racey. 13 points - ew!
Kirstie & Maks stole the show with their cha cha to Cee Lo's "Forget You." It was truly one of the most unforgettable moments in Dancing history, earning them an unexpected 23 points and 2nd place on the leader board. This competition just got interesting
After week 1, Ralph and Kirstie, rank highest on the leaderboard, each having scored the first 8's of the season, while Mike and Wendy have room to go, each having seen the "4" paddles from the judges. Remember, though it's your vote at home as well as the judges that decide who will stay dancing and who will retire their shoes from the ballroom.
